Requirements

A Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Agronomy, Crop Science, Agricultural Sciences, or a closely related field. A minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in agronomy, with a strong preference for experience within smallholder farming systems in Zimbabwe. Demonstrated expertise in agricultural data collection, comprehensive data analysis, accurate crop yield assessment, and rigorous field-based monitoring techniques. In-depth knowledge of technological advancements and innovations applicable to subsistence and smallholder farmers. Proficiency in producing, maintaining, and leveraging databases for agricultural industry insights and applications. Fluency in oral and written English, Shona, and Ndebele is essential for effective communication across all levels. Comprehensive understanding of the Zimbabwean agricultural industry, including its challenges, opportunities, and regulatory landscape. Proven experience supporting initiatives related to index-based insurance, climate risk analysis, or agricultural risk management is a significant advantage.
