*Senior Accountant* Job Description Our client is seeking a technically strong and hands-on Senior Accountant to join its finance team. The successful candidate will support the Financial Controller in managing the day-to-day finance function, ensuring accurate financial reporting, strong internal controls, statutory compliance, and timely completion of month-end processes. Salary: Negotiable Key Responsibilities: * Supporting the Financial Controller in managing the day-to-day finance function and providing second-in-command support when required. * Managing creditors and debtors processes, ensuring accurate reconciliations and timely completion of reporting requirements. * Reviewing daily finance reports, including bank balances, cash flow updates, and related schedules. * Managing the capital expenditure process, including maintaining the capex register, preparing and issuing capex forms, tracking approvals, and ensuring assets are correctly capitalised. * Ensuring compliance with Zimbabwean tax legislation and review tax submissions to ensure statutory obligations are submitted and paid on time. * Managing foreign payments, import acquittals, and supporting documentation to ensure compliance with banking and regulatory requirements. * Managing foreign supplier registrations and exchange control approvals with relevant banking institutions and regulatory authorities. * Reviewing month-end general ledger reconciliations, journals, lead schedules, and supporting schedules within established reporting deadlines. * Preparing monthly management accounts and related financial reports for review by the Financial Controller. * Assisting with annual budgets and forecasts, including gathering departmental inputs, preparing supporting schedules, and analysing budget variances. * Supporting internal and external audits by preparing requested information, resolving audit queries, and ensuring audit files are complete and accurate. * Supervising, guiding, and reviewing the work of the Financial Accountant and finance clerks, providing coaching and ensuring key finance activities are completed accurately and on time. * Assisting the Financial Controller during periods of leave, high workload, or when additional financial review and management support is required. Key Skills: * Strong management accounting and financial reporting skills. * Excellent knowledge of general ledger reconciliations, month-end journals, and balance sheet schedules. * Strong analytical, numerical, and problem-solving skills. * Excellent attention to detail and accuracy. * Strong understanding of internal controls and finance governance. * Good knowledge of Zimbabwean tax compliance and statutory requirements. * Understanding of foreign payments, exchange control processes, and import-related transactions. * Strong supervisory and people management skills. * Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact professionally at all levels. * Ability to work independently, meet strict reporting deadlines, and perform effectively under pressure. * High level of integrity, confidentiality, accountability, and professionalism. * Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel and experience working with ERP systems.
