A medium-sized gold mining company is seeking to recruit a skilled and experienced Fitter and Turner Class 1 to join its engineering and maintenance team. The successful candidate will be responsible for the installation, maintenance, repair, and machining of mechanical equipment and components to ensure reliable operation of mining machinery and plant systems. Key Responsibilities - Install, maintain, inspect, and repair mechanical equipment, machinery, and plant systems. - Carry out precision fitting, turning, machining, alignment, and assembly of mechanical components. - Diagnose mechanical faults and perform corrective repairs to minimise equipment downtime. - Conduct preventive maintenance on pumps, gearboxes, conveyors, crushers, and other mining equipment. - Operate workshop machinery including lathes, milling machines, and other fitting tools. - Read and interpret engineering drawings, manuals, and technical specifications. - Perform equipment installation, dismantling, and overhaul activities. - Ensure machinery operates safely, efficiently, and within required performance standards. - Maintain accurate maintenance records and report mechanical defects. - Follow all occupational health and safety procedures and promote a safe working environment.
