Description

The Accountant will be reporting to the Finance and Treasury Head. The accountant is expected to provide effective financial management, accounting, budgeting, financial reporting, and internal control services that support the Agriculture Marketing Authority's regulatory, market development, research, compliance, and project implementation functions. The accountant is expected to ensure the accuracy and integrity of the organization's financial records by identifying, investigating, resolving discrepancies in accounts and statements, The accountant ensures compliance with the Public Finance Management Act, applicable accounting standards, Treasury regulations, and AMA policies.

Requirements

- Bachelor's degree in accounting, Finance, or a related field. - Professional qualifications such as ACCA, CIMA, CA(Z), or CIS is an added advantage. - At least 3-5 years of relevant accounting experience, preferably in the public sector or a statutory body. - Knowledge of International Public Sector Accounting Standards (IPSAS) or International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS), as applicable. - Experience with accounting and financial management systems. - Strong financial analysis and reporting skills. - Budgeting and financial planning. - Knowledge of public finance and Treasury regulations. - High level of integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality. - Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities. - Strong communication and report-writing skills. - Good organisational and time management skills. - Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software. - Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
